July 28

Me being a sicky pants on the couch ALL DAY LONG.  I've got a super fun sinus headache/cough/congestion party going on.  It's been pretty fun you guys.  Scout made sure to keep me company all day though.

July 27

Pretty flowers at the cabin.

July 26

What our drives to the cabin usually look like.  Scout likes to try to weasel his way to the front most of the time.

July 25

Summer bliss=nightly walks with Scout and Dave.  We'll just pretend that I didn't come home with 50 bajillion mosquito bites.

July 24

Brewer loving the attention he's getting at a family bbq.  He's sure missed Megan since she's been gone to the MTC.

July 23

Dave showing spirit whilst loathing being at the parade.  I think he hides it well.  :)  Oh Dave...such a good sport.  Can someone PLEASE tell me why Bountiful feels the need to hold the LONGEST parade on earth???  We left early (as we've done in past years) and there were still over 70 floats to go!?  WHY????  I can't imagine what a mess it was to get out of at the end.

July 22

The infamous long line at the Centerville DQ.  Totally worth the 15 minute wait.  :)

July 21

Scout enjoying his new toy...of which he hasn't destroyed yet!  Mostly because we put it away after awhile...but still, we have a survivor!  :)

July 20

Spent practically all day installing board and batten in our room.  I'm loving how things are coming together.  Next up, paint!

July 19

Scout pouting because he isn't allowed in our room.  Haha.  Poor dog.  We FINALLY finished getting all the glue off our walls today.  Note to self:  Think twice before applying wallpaper.  If you get the urge, just say no.

July 18

Dave LOVES cleaning wallpaper glue off of the wall and LOVES having his picture taken.

July 17

In the process of refinishing the headboard.  I'm almost done with our bedroom furniture!  It's been a fun project, but it's A LOT of work!

July 16

My new favorite picture of Scout.  We've been having thunderstorms every night this week so Dave and I have been spending a lot of time with Scout outside during them. (He's REALLY afraid of thunder so we're trying to train him to go inside the garage during a rainstorm).  A few months ago during a really bad storm, Scout freaked out and jumped the fence and ran down the street because he was so scared.  Both Dave and I were at work at the time.  Thank goodness our neighbor saw him and coaxed him back to the house.  We're so lucky to have such wonderful neighbors!  Anyway, We were sitting outside and he was doing great, as you can see.  This picture was taken RIGHT before a huge thunder boom.  He went from super happy and playful to petrified.  I wish I would have caught it on camera.  As soon as he heard that thunder he leaped up onto the porch swing and buried himself under me.  Hilarious!  And sad.  Poor dog!

July 14

I'm obsessed with homemade ice cream.  Like for real you guys, it's a problem.  I found the BEST and easiest recipe for homemade vanilla ice cream a few weeks ago and it's seriously changed my life.  We may have made it three times in the last month.  (AND that's why Dave and I are getting up at 6:00 am and going on a jog each morning...)  Here's my adapted recipe:

2 cups heavy whipping cream
2 cups half and half
14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
(Yeah, I know...bring on the fat!)
1-2 tsp vanilla (I use Mexican vanilla my in-laws brought back from Cancun)  it really does make a difference.
1-2 Tbls honey (We like to use raspberry infused honey from Bear Lake)

Mix all ingredients.
I like to place the mixture in the refrigerator for about an hour just to get it nice and chilled.  Then, pour that yummy goodness into an ice cream maker.  It usually thickens in 20 minutes or less.  The consistency is more like soft serve ice cream.  The picture above is what it looks like if you transfer it to the freezer for an hour or so.  Enjoy!

July 13

Our feeble attempt at making our front yard presentable.  It's been riddled with weeds all summer.  I finally got around to going to the nursery to get plants only to realize that I'm the ONLY one that waited until mid July to plant flowers.  SO, I grabbed the ONLY living flowers they had left and hoped for the best.  Next year maybe I'll think about planting flowers BEFORE mid-summer.  Dave says they'll be dead within the week.  I say, "Well then we'll have a pretty yard for a week."  Totally worth it.  :)

July 12

I caught Dave in the act of smiling!  :)

July 11

Last day of Common Core Academy.  Bleh.  Four days straight of this just about did me in.  I felt like I was in college all over again, and sadly didn't feel I gained much out of it at all.  This was demonstrated by my obvious lack of enthusiasm.  I didn't even try to hide the fact that I was on Facebook.  Disappointing.

July 10

Check out this awesome homemade slip and slide.  I was sad that I didn't bring a swim suit.  It was pretty sweet.

July 9

Hanging out at Ernie and Shauna's for dinner.

July 8

I'm up in Logan with Dave's mom and siblings for a training with the district.  This was my view for the night.  :)

July 7

Came home to Scout who was happy to see us!  Thanks to Dave's fam for watching him while we were gone!

July 6

Dave continuing his legacy of ruined pictures.

July 5

Beth, Adam, Dad and Mom at Tuachan.  We went to watch their performance of Mary Poppins.  Adam and Dave were thrilled to say the least.  ;)

July 4

I just love my Dad's expression in this picture.  Also, if you're wondering why he's holding an empty blender, it's because we took this picture specifically to torture Megan.  Here we are at our "gaming/smoothie" party without her.  Poor Megan...always missing out on the fun.

Man, our family has weird humor.  :)

July 3

Dave and I exhausted on the couch after the long drive to Mesquite.

July 2

Scout loves to play frisbee.  It's becoming a nightly ritual here.

July 1

Finally getting around to decorating Dave's game room.  Any DOTA fans out there?

June 30

Oh, you know...just doing a little light weeding in our front yard.  That garbage can may or may not be entirely full of weeds.  We are no longer the scourge of the neighborhood.  :)

June 29

Playing Frisbee with Scout on our back porch.

June 28

Scout being adorable.  He sat and played with that ball for hours...only to destroy it shortly after.  That dog.
